“The messages I try to convey in my sculptures are as old as the hills.  If they take you to a place where love & hope prevail, then you have listened well.”  - Gedion Nyanhongo

The eloquent sculpture of internationally acclaimed artist Gedion Nyanhongo resonates with the emotions of human life, while embodying the richness of African Culture.  His works in stone are bound by a thread of global consciousness and speak knowledgeably of the human condition.  Gedion’s sculptures take people to where they come from and to where they are today, moving with ease through time and place for they speak a visual language that is widely embraced.

Although preferring to work in the solitude of his private rural workshop, it is the relationships of everyday life that fuel Gedion’s inspiration.  Gedion Nyanhongo is the consummate observer, always documenting in his mind the subtleties of life around him.  He takes note of simple gestures, random expression and the varying means of communication that abound between people, animals and spirits.

As a proud Zimbabwean man, Gedion Nyanhongo speaks of and to his people, while at the same time addressing the world communities at large.  He is of the belief that people share a common thread around the globe and it is by no coincidence that his work speaks evocatively of such a universal human condition.  Gedion often refers to himself as an ”international artist”, holder of a global passport.  He is the kind of world citizen that one should love to come knocking at the door
